Way to end the school year with a staff dance!!!

Buy Back Day for SV

Aug 21 - NEU Llama classroom management PD- buy back day at the Nelson Center in Fairfield- David Weir and Suisun Elementary staff will also be joining us.
Doug Curry, from No Excuses University, will be here on August 21 to present his one-day-long workshop on classroom management. I hesitate to call it "classroom management" because his talk goes beyond "management." He is about reaching one's students in creative and supportive ways.

AR 5144:

Recess restriction shall be subject to the following conditions: 1. The student shall be given adequate time to use the restroom and get a drink or eat lunch, as appropriate. 2. The student shall remain under a certificated employee's supervision during the period of restriction. 3. The student's teacher shall inform the principal of any recess restrictions imposed. My name is Melody Griffin many of you know me from subbing at Suisun Valley, I’m so excited to be part of this team! I’m a mother of three wonderful daughters, and have always enjoyed helping children learn as well as seeing them succeed. I’m excited for this upcoming school year, and the chance to work with all of you!

Heather Merodio will be our Agri-Science release teacher for 2019-20 school year. She will be located in Room 20 (staff room). A little note from Heather:
I am so excited to grow and learn with you and your students in this new position! All my life I have loved working outside and have always had a passion for the the restorative experience of working in my garden, farm to table cuisine, and nutrition. Since 2008 I have been trained on food safety and nutrition through the University of California Davis Cooperative Extension and Solano County 4-H. I have also lead and supported multiple projects for students ranging in age from kindergarten to high school with a focus on cooking, science, technology, and service. Additionally, I have completed the two day  Life Lab’s The Growing Classroom; an intensive training on garden-based learning at the University of California Santa Cruz.  One of the most exciting aspects of this new position is the focus on students learning by doing. Of course, as with any new position, I also have a lot to learn and can’t wait for the opportunity to continue serving Suisun Valley’s students!
