And we're back :) Hope everyone enjoyed their summer. 

Dear Dragon Staff,

I hope your summer is going great and that you are relaxing and enjoying your time off. It has been a busy summer at school with getting our school ready. I really enjoyed reading the book Kids Deserve It. It has some great ideas and I can't wait to put some of them to use! If you want more information about Kids Deserve It, check it out on Twitter. Thank you Carlos and Anthony for making our rooms SPARKLE!!

Our retreat is scheduled for August 9^th. We will meet at Suisun Valley at 8:30am in the staff room. Buy back is available. If you are unable to attend please email or call me. Wear comfortable clothes, sun block, and/or a hat. We will be spending some time in the garden. On Monday morning August 13^th we will have our first staff meeting from 8:30-12:00pm in the staff room J. I WOULD LIKE ALL STAFF TO ATTEND FOR THE FIRST 30 minutes. If you are a new teacher on campus you will meet with me in the staff room at 1:00pm on August 13^th. The meeting will last about an hour. On August 17th at 5:00pm we will be having our staff social at my home at 137 Auburn Way Vacaville, 95688. Please bring your family and your swim stuff. We hope to see everyone there.

I would like to extend a warm welcome to some new staff members on our site Ariel Tagaloa (1st)), Melissa Shelton-Bicardi(8th), Janelle McGee (RSP teacher), Imelda Rubio Leyva (P.E teacher on Friday's) and Ann Kim (music teacher) . If you see them on campus please introduce yourself and help them in any way that you can.

I want you to know that I think we had an exciting seventh year together. You are an amazing staff and I feel fortunate to be able to work with you. I am excited about our new year, our new teachers, staff and just being back!!   

The 2018/2019 school year promises to be another great year. We will continue to work on our Ag/Tech focus for the upcoming school year. We will also continue to support our efforts of being an NEU school. As a staff we will work together to learn NGSS and Common Core. I know that through our continued hard work, we will see our students grow academically and socially.

The school calendar has been approved and the teacher work days are August 13^th and August 14^th, and the students will arrive on August 15^th.  The school will be open for you to pick up your keys, August 6th. We have been working very hard to ensure that your rooms are ready.

Have a super rest of the summer and I will see you on August 9^th.

Math help in the classroom:
I recently was contacted by Jerry Ellington and he would like to help with small group math intervention in the classroom, specifically in 4th and 5th grade. If you are interested please let me know so that I can give him the go ahead to be finger printed:

A little about Jerry:

I've recently finished reading Damen Lopez's book "No Excuses

University" and found to my delight that there are three NEU schools
near me. I am a retired mathematician/computer analyst with some
experience both volunteering and working in schools as a math tutor.
I would greatly appreciate a chance to meet with you and discuss how
I might be of some assistance to your students and staff. 

     In the past I have worked with students from 3rd grade through college
level, both in class and after school, however I prefer 4th and 5th grade. I would be available up to twenty

hours a week (or slightly more).

 I look forward to hearing from you.

Hello Suisun Valley Dragons! My name is Ariel Tagaloa and I’m very excited to be joining you all as a first grade teacher. I was born in San Francisco and grew up in the East Bay. Since graduating high school, I have lived in the South Bay, Monterey, and Sonoma Counties. I recently received my credential from Sonoma State University.  Also, I taught as a fifth grade teacher for the end of the 17-18 school year in the Antioch Unified School District.

When I’m not enveloped in my craft for wanting to better myself in this profession,
I like to have some downtime and fun. I enjoy baking and cooking.
I like going on hikes and to the beach. I love traveling and exploring new places
whether it’s a trending new cafe/restaurant, or something I’d like to mark off my
bucket list of sights to see.I look forward to meeting you all this upcoming school
year and collaborating with you.

My name is Janelle McGee and I am excited to be joining the  Suisun Valley
Dragons as a resource teacher. I am from Vacaville, CA and attended middle
and high school in the Travis district. I enjoy sports and outdoor activities, and
play soccer as much as I can. I am looking forward to a wonderful school year
