Please welcome Chris Crawford to Suisun Valley:
Hi TEAM DRAGONS! My name is Chris Crawford and I am your new PT RSP teacher, split between Suisun Valley and Dan O Root. In 1989 I received dual Bachelor's degrees in English and history from Berkeley. I almost completed a single subject credential in English from Saint Mary's before a car accident in 1993, I spent time working on a certificate from Longridge Writer's Group and will be finishing up my mild/moderate teaching credential from Touro University this May. This will be my 19th year in education. I have a passion for learning, but look forward to leisure reading and more of a life post-Touro. My wife Stephanie and I have two tuxedo cats, Ella and Duke. We live on the water front in south Vallejo. My hobbies are reading, jogging/running/swimming/ isometrics, board games, Netflix Marvel Comics series, listening to jazz/standards/classic rock/R&B. My favorite dessert is pumpkin pie. Krispi Kreme doughnuts are my kryptonite. Darth Maul is my favorite STAR WARS character. Yeah, I am going on too long, but I will end in saying I found a new pathway in teaching (from gen ed to sp ed) when I was a permanent K6 RTI substitute teacher at Verde Elementary in Richmond in 2007-9.
Observable Fish Moments at SV:
Be There: When people need you, they need you. Setting aside distractions and judgments to be fully present is a sign of respect. It improves communication and strengthens relationships.
Play: You can be serious about your work without taking yourself too seriously. Play is a mindset more than a specific activity. It allows you to throw yourself with enthusiasm, creativity and CURIOSITY, into whatever you are doing, in a way that is natural, not forced. “Playing” with ideas helps you find solutions to everyday challenges.
Choose your attitude: To actually choose how you respond to life, not just react, you must be intentional. Ask yourself throughout the day, “What is my attitude right now? Is it helping the people who depend on me? Is it helping me to be most effective?”
Make Their Day: Simple gestures of thoughtfulness, thanks and recognition make people feel appreciated and valued. When you make someone feel good, you feel good too.
THROUGH THE FISH PHILOSOPHY, WE BUILD STRONGER
RELATIONSHIPS WITH THE PEOPLE WE WORK WITH, THE STUDENTS WE
TEACH AND THE PEOPLE WE LOVE.
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EACH OF YOU - I APPRECIATE AND RESPECT
EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU.
